The Bauchi State Government announced the death of Alhaji Wali Adamu Tumfafi, Acting Chairman of Shira Local Government Council, who passed away after a brief illness at the Federal Medical Centre, Azare.
In a statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bala Mohammed, he described the late chairman as a “committed public servant” whose contributions to the development of Shira LGA and Bauchi State “will be fondly remembered.”
Recall that earlier in March 2025, the Shira council members impeached the local government chairman and his deputy for financial management, which paved the way for Tumfafi to take over as acting chair.
Similarly, the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has slated May 24 for the by-election to return elected chairman and deputy at the local council.
The governor extended condolences to Tumfafi’s family, the Katagum Emirate Council, and residents of the state, urging sympathizers to pray for the bereaved family.
The statement added that a funeral prayer (Janaza) for the deceased will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, 12th May 2025, at the residence of the late Alkali Musa in Azare.
