Robbery Attacks: Bauchi Poly community, Students Decry Neglect

Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi have lamented attacks by robbery gangs in the Gwallameji community.

They also accused the institution’s management of neglect, noting that there has been no help in tackling the growing menace.

A student studying Estate management at the polytechnic Job mukadang wuleng, was attacked on February 10, suffering severe injury, according to reports by Gwalameji News.

He was reportedly attacked by “15 to 20 unknown persons carrying machete, axes and cutlasses attacked.”

He and others had gone out to rescue their neighbors who were under attack of robbers.

“We went out from our compound with the intention to help our neighbors after we heard gunshots in the mid night. We never knew the robbers were much in number, when we realized that they were many, we tried to escape, but suddenly before i got to our gate, it was already locked, and the robbers attacked me with cutlass and machete” the victim Job Mukadang noted.

He further explained that, it took the intervention of his friend who took him to the school clinic where he was referred to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa Teaching Hospital and got treatment.

“After the robbers left, some of my compound mates took me to the school clinic and from there I was referred to ATBU because the polytechnic clinic don’t have enough equipments to conduct the treatment and I was loosing much blood at the moment. It was a classmate of mine that rendered to pay my medical bills with his project fee”

” We have issued a report to the school management and the SUG itself but we are yet to receive any response” he narrated.

When Gwalameji News contacted the president of students Union government Naziru Dahiru after the attack , he told GwalamejiNews reporter that he was not aware of the incident but will contact some of the community rulers and get back to the reporter.

However, three days after reaching out, the SUG leader failed to give react to the development.
