ATBUH Urges Health Workers To Adhere To Medical Rules And Protocols

The Management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi has advised all frontline health workers in the state to adhere to medical rules and protocols in responding suspected cases of Coronavirus and other related deadly diseases.


The Acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Sa’eed Abubakar kadas stated this during a training organized for frontline health workers on COVID-19 in Bauchi by a Taraba based NGO, Center for Development Initiative, held at the ATBUH in Bauchi.


He said that the training of trainers for Infection Prevention and Control of the Coronavirus Global Pandemic has continued to attract more volunteers in ensuring that the State is up to date with its level of preparedness in a bid to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Acting Chief Medical Director said the training will go a long way to prepare the health workers on their roles on attending to COVID 19 patients.


“This training is all encompassing and organized for all frontline health workers which include doctors, nurses, pharmacists, scientists, junior health workers and cleaners. “We are looking at so many areas such as the issue of care of these COVID 19 patients generally and the issue of prevention of the disease”, he said.


Dr, Kadas said infectious diseases are generally on the increase globally and the state needs to have some level of stability to control them.

“The most important thing for this training is for participants to avail themselves and pass what they learnt to the public”, he added.


He said the State testing laboratory for covid-19 would soon be commissioned in addition to the teaching hospital diagnostic laboratory.

Dr Sa’eed called on organizations, philanthropists and good spirited individuals and Government to support health workers in the hospital with personal protective equipment to enable them operate within safety precautions.

Dr Mustapha Sabo Umar, training coordinator at the workshop said the training which was implemented by Center for Development Initiative with support from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Company aimed to train frontline health workers to prepare them against outbreaks such as the Coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Sabo who described the virus as deadly said adequately motivated and equipped health workers were the only solution to such pandemics.
