Bad representation, major challenge facing Nigeria — Uju-Chima

A House of Representatives candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in Imo, Chief Kingsley Uju-Chima, says bad representation is a major challenge facing the country.

Uju-Chima, who defected to AA after losing APC primary for Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta, Oru West Federal Constituency, made the declaration after meeting with indigenes of the constituency living in Lagos.

“Most of the people at the National and State assemblies has no business being there. They do not understand what their representation entails.

“They see legislative work as an avenue for self aggrandisement and holding governments to unnecessary ransom.

“ I wish that Nigerians will realise the need to vote out lawmakers that have not represented them well.

According to him, the general elections will be about personalities not party.

“People should avoid voting for bad representatives just because of their party,” he said.

He said would attract people-focused projects to his constituency, if elected

“If elected, I will use my position to draw projects to my constituents and ensure transparency in the use of constituency funds.

“I will sponsor bills that will impact directly and positively on the people.

“House of representatives is the closest to the grassroots. It is an avenue for the people to get their demands across to the Federal Government.,” he said.

He said that part of his plans, if elected, was to ensure that the people were empowered through skill acquisitions to ensure their independence and reduce poverty.

Uju- Chima lamented the abject poverty among people of the constituency due to bad representation.

He said that his pedigree in providing certain amenities like water and roads to the people of the constituency despite not being in office yet was the main reason the people gave him their support.

“ I have a scholarship fund that have empowered many in the constituency and which I plan on increasing, if elected,” he said.

He however urged electorates to protect their votes to make sure that their will prevailed.

Uju-Chima also urged Imo indigenes accross Nigeria and the diaspora to help in educating people in the constituency on the need to get it right and to vote for AA in the constituency
