Bala Mohammed:The Makind Of A President

In some days to come, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State will make his decision known on whether he will run for the presidency in 2023 or not. This is sequel to his endorsement for the coveted seat by Northern Youth Leadership Forum, NYLF.

Looking through his life especially his political profile, Governor Bala is among the most favoured by providence. He started as a journalist after which he joined the administrative cadre in the Federal service, rising to the rank of a director and making a foray into politics since then. He was a Senator, a Federal Minister of the FCT and currently a Governor.

Anybody with such a rich political and public service profile must be taken seriously. Perhaps, that explains the reasons for NYLF to endorse Governor Bala for the office of the President in 2023. But such a fantastic credential in the public service and political life is not the only measurement that qualifies the governor to vie for the presidency.

Currently, governor Bala could be ranked among the best performing governors in the country. He has performed creditably well, and it may be said of him, that he is the best performing governor in the history of Bauchi State.

Governor Bala has so far constructed major and minor roads in Bauchi and all the local government areas of the state, brought educational revolution by building new schools and renovating old ones. In the area of health and economic empowerment it is the story of success that is unprecedented.

The PDP is also interested in the presidential candidature of Bala Mohammed. The party has rightly realised that the candidature of Atiku is an old fashioned bid that must give way to a fresh, untainted and vigorous candidature that will be acceptable to all Nigerians. Nigerians are beginning to be tired of Atiku’s continued bid for the highest seat in the land, a bid they are beginning to suspect….
