Bala Wunti tasks ATBU graduates to brace-up for life after school

The Managing Director, Petroleum Products Marketing Company of the NNPC, Alhaji Bala Maijama’a Wunti has challenged graduating students of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi to engage in creativity and innovation to become self-employed.

Bala Wunti who gave the challenge at a public lecture and launching of magazine, tagged “African Golden Voice” organized by the final year students of the University said, “by so doing you will also become employers of labour instead of job seekers.”

The Managing Director who was speaking on ‘Life after School: Using Innovation and Creativity to Convert Yesterday’s Pressure to Pleasure’, encouraged the graduands to acquire the critical skills that will assist them to surmount the challenges of the 21st century.

The guest speaker who said education has remained key to societal development, insisted that street smartness is crucial to the success of younger generation.

“They can only attained their full potential when they are receptive to change as life is full of ups and downs. “I want to call on you not to give up as you will eventually prevail,” he said.

Wunti while calling for the review of curriculum in universities to meet with current global advancement, cautioned the students against engaging in criminal activities and other social vices to safeguard their future.

The Managing Director who enumerated some of the challenges affecting the progress and development of Nigeria, challenged the students and other critical stakeholders to contribute positively towards finding lasting solution to the identified challenges.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor M.A Abdulazeez expressed gratitude to Alhaji Bala Wunti for the donation of laptops to some students of the University and for the support of the NNPC to the management of the Institution.

During the occasion, tagged “38th BALEWITE Public Lecture, Alhaji Bala Wunti donated 11 sets of HP laptop to some students of the university in addition to scholarship to best graduating students of selected departments.
