“They stole a large number of animals, food items and other valuables. In the process of going round the village, they came across a newly married couple and took them to the forest”, said one of the residents of the area.

When contacted by WikkiTimes, Yazid Abubakar, Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesperson said he is not aware of the incident, decrying that lack of cooperation by locals makes it difficult for them to checkmate such attacks, especially at night.

He called on residents to always provide the police with intelligence reports on the movements of suspicious elements within their locality, saying this would help in averting such attacks.

WikkiTimes recalled that with the increasing number of attacks on local communities by bandits especially at night, the Zamfara state government birthed the idea of establishing Community Protection Guards selected across all the areas of the state to help complement the efforts of security agencies in the fight against banditry.
