Bauchi Emirs Palace Turns Blue as UNICEF Added Colour to Mark 2019 Children’s Day

It was a beautiful sight to behold as the Palace of Bauchi Emir turns all blue in commemoration of 2019 World Children’s Day.

The lighting of the Emir’s Palace was part of series of activities carried out by Bauchi UNICEF field office in marking the day.

Earlier in the day while briefing newsmen in commemorating 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Child (CRC) and World Children’s Day , the chief of Bauchi UNICEF field office Mr. Bhanu Pathak said that in the spirit of the occasion, “various iconic structures around Nigeria will be lit blue. “These structures include the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, Emir’s Palace in Kano, Borno, Bauchi and the Mary Slessor statue in Calabar”.

Mr. Pathak also said in Bauchi, the UNICEF office, with support from the office of the first lady hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed and other partners had organized youth and children’s talk, stressing that, “ feedback from the children and young people has been collected from such events, and this will help to inform the outcome document of a national summit on children’s rights, which will take place in late January or early February 2020”.

WikkiTimes reports that the Bauchi Emirate council has been a staunch supporter in addressing children’s plights especially in the areas of access to basic education , child health, hygiene promotion and creating enabling environment for children to reach their full potentials.
