Bauchi Former Reps Member Dumps PDP, Joins Dogara

Hon. Salisu Zakari Ningi, a former House of Representatives member who represented Ningi-Warji Federal constituency between 2015-2019 has quit the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and joins his boss, Yakubu Dogara to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In what appears to be a wave of populism in Bauchi politics where gale of defections is now the norm, the former lawmaker, like his boss, said he had lost hope with the PDP led government in Bauchi State.

In a letter of resignation addressed to Chairman, PDP Ningi West ward, dated 6th September, 2020 which was made available to WikkiTimes on Tuesday, Zakari said; “I discovered that all the yearnings for desired change has eluded the good people of Bauchi State and Ningi in particular which led to the resignation of my political mentor, Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara and other high profile politicians who contributed in bringing this government to power.

Hon Salis alleged that they worked tirelessly to “install Governor Bala Abdulkadir as governor and showed MA Abubakar the exit door” in a move he said was to salvage Bauchi State from total stagnation and collapse.

He regretted that the goal has yet to materialize, which informed his resignation.

“After diligent consultations with my political allies and followers, we concluded that the atmosphere in PDP is no longer conducive for us because we don’t want to be identified with such failures.

“Therefore, I have resolved to dump PDP to seek good fortunes for the people of Bauchi State and Ningi Local Government in particular on APC platform,” the letter read in part.

The former federal lawmaker said, his resignation takes immediate effect.

WikkiTimes recalled that Yakaubu Dogara, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives also resigned his party membership with the PDP, citing maltreatment of traditional rulers, corruption and the inability of the PDP led government to conduct LG polls as reasons for his defection.
