Bauchi FRSC Blames Phone Calls Among Drivers For Accidents

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Bauchi State Command has fingered making phone calls among drivers for causing road crashes in the state.

Head of Operations FRSC Bauchi, Muhammad Bature said this in Bauchi.

He said reckless driving especially among young drivers is yet another leading precursor of road traffic accidents.

In 2021, 413 people were killed in 480 road traffic accidents with 162 fatal ones in Bauchi state.

“Using mobile phones, drinking illicit drugs while driving by some road users led to an accident,” he said.

The Head of Operations said anyone driver caught making phone calls while driving will not be spared. “Erring drivers will be sanctioned appropriately to deter others from blazing their trails,” he insisted.

He said men and officers of the command are fully mobilised to that effect.

“There is no safe landing for any Erring driver caught violating traffic rules on Bauchi roads.”

He further warned drivers against overspending and overloading oftentimes done to make more profits but ends up terminating lives which does not in any way justify the end.

“All drivers should ensure that they install speed limiting devices on their vehicles to save their lives, those of their passengers and passersby.

“People should not be shy from doing the right thing,” he said.
