Bauchi govt collaborate humanitarian ministry to combat desertification, flood

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has expressed his administration’s resolve to partner with the federal ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in order to fight cases of flood, desertification, afforestation, erosion, illiteracy and poverty in his state.

The Governor made this known on Tuesday when he visited the Honourable Minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruq in her office in Abuja.

“It is a well known fact that the Boko Haram crises in Borno, Yobe and part of Adamawa states has generated a large population movement to Bauchi State”. The Governor added.

He told the minister that the visit was aimed at building a synergy between the Bauchi State Government and the ministry particularly on Humanitarian response strategy and Disaster Management.

As contained in a press statement, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Alhaji Mukhtar Gidado said that the visit was part of his principal’s continued visitation to federal establishments in Abuja.

“The visit is a good omen for the entire people of Bauchi State, taken into cognisance that the peoples Governor has demonstrated love and care for his people and his action is sending positive signal to all  people particularly those handling emergencies that it is not going to be business as usual”. The statement reads.

The statement added that the governor who led the visitation was accompanied by high powered delegation that includes members of the National Assembly, Honourable Commissioners, Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.

According to Gidado, the visit was rewarding as a result of collective commitment by the humanitarian ministry at the federal level and the Bauchi state government to enter into partnership with a view to tackling challenges of  humanitarian crises and disaster management.
