Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi has launched the sales ofsix thousand metric tones of fertilizer for the 2019 farming season at the ratefive thousand five hundred naira per bag
The governor has also inaugurated free distribution of threethousand knapsack sprayers to youth across the state to enhance farming activities
Speaking at the launching ceremony held in Zaki localgovernment area of the state, senator Bala Muhammad said his administrationwill also introduce an agricultural policy framework in next two weeks foroverall development of the sector.
He said in order to meet the fertilizer demand of farmers,the Ministry of Agriculture and BASAC was been directed to ensure theavailability of the commodities across the 20 local government areas.
According to him, agricultural sector has remained a vibrantsector which has the potentials of providing raw materials to industries andempowerment opportunities to unemployed youth.
In a remark, the permanent secretary ministry of agricultureand natural resources Dr Musa Lukshi said the government’s investment in thesector will address most of the challenges being face by farmers across thetwenty local government areas of the state .
Dr Bala Lukshi therefore appealed for the immediategovernment action on the outbreaks of qualia birds, army worms and stem borerin the crop sector in order to address the challenges affecting the sector.
