Bauchi Gov’t commences sales of fertilizer, farming inputs to farmers

Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi has launched the sales of six thousand metric tones of fertilizer for the 2019 farming season at the rate five thousand five hundred naira per bag

The governor has also inaugurated free distribution of three thousand knapsack sprayers to youth across the state to enhance farming activities

Speaking at the launching ceremony held in Zaki local government area of the state, senator Bala Muhammad said his administration will also introduce an agricultural policy framework in next two weeks for overall development of the sector.

He said in order to meet the fertilizer demand of farmers, the Ministry of Agriculture and BASAC was been directed to ensure the availability of the commodities across the 20 local government areas.

According to him, agricultural sector has remained a vibrant sector which has the potentials of providing raw materials to industries and empowerment opportunities to unemployed youth.

In a remark, the permanent secretary ministry of agriculture and natural resources Dr Musa Lukshi said the government’s investment in the sector will address most of the challenges being face by farmers across the twenty local government areas of the state .

Dr Bala Lukshi therefore appealed for the immediate government action on the outbreaks of qualia birds, army worms and stem borer in the crop sector in order to address the challenges affecting the sector.

Speaking on behalf of farmers the Emir of Katagum Alh Muhammad Faruq Umar who commended the governor for the initiative, warned the farmers not to sell the implements allocated to them
