Bauchi Lawmaker launches N8.5 million empowerment programme for constituency

The member representing Disina District of Shira Local Governmentunder the platform for the All Progressives Congress APC in the Bauchi state House of Assembly Alhaji Saleh Jibrin Hodi has commenced the disbarment of N8.5 million to petty traders under the first phase of his empowerment scheme.

The scheme launched in Disina in the presence of APC stalwarts in the state entails the distribution of N10,000 cash to 120 beneficiaries to improve their businesses and N30,000 cash to all the 92 polling units in the 7 wards that make up Disina Constituency for the execution of minor community projects and repairs of public infrastructure.  

Speaking at the occasion, the legislator Saleh Jibrin Hodi said the second phase of the empowerment programme to be launched in the next two weeks will be dedicated to women where about 200 beneficiaries will be given N5,000 cash.

Saleh Hodi also claimed that over N1 million out of the amount will be used to procure empowerment kits for distribution to deserving people in the constituency.

These initiatives according to him were being carried in order to improve the economic fortunes of people of the area and reduce the level of poverty among them.

In a remark, the APC state Secretary Alhaji Bako Hussaini claimed that legislators elected under the platform of the party were the first to start such empowerment scheme under this dispensation, promising that such gesture will be sustained every month in the state.

“I want to assure you that every month one of our elected or appointed member will have dividends of democracy to distribute to his people and this is an indication that the APC in Bauchi is still strong”, says Bako Hussaini.

Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Abubakar Y. Suleiman described the gesture by the member representing Disina District as a sign of many good things to come under this dispensation in Bauchi State.
