Bauchi LG Polls: BASIEC Distributes Sensitive Materials

Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC has distributed sensitive electoral materials as part of preparations for the October 17th local government elections in the state.

The electoral umpire says it has allocated all required sensitive materials to each of the 20 local governments areas of the state and have started packing them amid eagle eyes of security personnels.

Alhaji Dahiru Tata, Chairman Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC disclosed this to reporters in his office on Thursday.

“Every body is happy with preparations for the conduct of the election.

“We carry everybody along, agents of all political parties are here to monitor the distribution,” the Chairman said.

The Chairman said that In the sipirit of BASIEC to deliver free and fair election to the satisfaction of all, the Commission has invited sister commissions of the 36 states of the federation.

The Chairman further explained that the commission has recruited and trained 19,000 adhoc staffs to carryout the election on 2.4 million registered voters accross the state.

He said that they have cleared 10 local observers and two foreign observers as well as media  to monitor the conduct of the election.

Meanwhile, House Committee on Election has described the process as very transparent.

Hon Gazali Abubakar, Chairman House Committee on Election said the distribution is timely as it allows materials reach local governments of the state for easy distribution to polling units.

“Bauchi State has been left behind in the conduct of local government elections because it has not conducted LG elections for 12 yeara,” he said.
