LG Polls: Bauchi Police Restricts Movements

The Bauchi state police command has placed a restriction on movements ahead of the Saturday 17th October, 2020 local government elections in the state.

Lawan Tanko Jimeta, the commissioner of police in Bauchi,  stated during a press briefing on the command’s preparedness for a hitch-free local government polls.

He said only those on essential duties with valid identification are exempted from the restriction.   

“There will be total restriction of movements of persons and vehicles between the midnight hours of Friday 16th October, 2020 to 2:00pm of Saturday 17th October, 2020”, the police commissioner noted. 

Adding that, “all personalities are barred from going to polling units with their security details on the Election Day”.

The CP assured the people of Bauchi State that, it has put in place adequate security measures that will provide a level playing ground for all the political parties and electorates.

He said that the command has concluded arrangements towards peaceful elections across the (20) Local Government Areas in Bauchi State.

The police commissioner called on members of the public to come out and cast their votes on the election day without fear of intimidation from any person or group of persons.

According to him, the Police and other sister security agencies deployed will be all out to man every polling units.

He warned that the police will deal with any miscreant, political thugs and other disgruntle elements that may attempt to cause trouble before, during and after the election.

The CP called on traditional and religious leaders, youth leaders, parents and guardians to prevail on their subjects not to allow themselves to be used in causing disturbance before, during and after election.

He warned that any one arrested in the act will face the full wrath of the law.  

“All parties to the elections are to be cautions with all COVID-19 protocols in effect”, the CP said.
