Bauchi State signs MoU on 2020 Hajj exercise with NAHCON

To ensure, effective service delivery, comfort and satisfaction to intending pilgrims for the year 2020, the Bauchi state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The Special Adviser on pilgrims Affairs, Honourable Isa Babayo Tilde disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists on their recent official visit to Saudi Arabia.

According to him, the visit to Saudi Arabia was aimed at achieving success in the management of the 2020 hajj operations.

Honourable Tilde said that the signing of the MoU was in line with an agreement reached between the Nigerian embassy and Saudi Arabia following a meeting held at the Ministry of Hajj and Umra, Makka, Saudi Arabia.

“According to the agreement, coordination of feeding and accommodation for Nigerian pilgrims during their stay in Madina is a sole responsibility of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON) while Bauchi state is to coordinate feeding and accommodation arrangements to their pilgrims in Makka,” the Special adviser explained.

He noted that there are plans by Governor Bala Mohammed to retain a recent Bauchi State accommodation in Makka, which was strategically located along Al-Hijrah Street, very closed to the Haram.

The Special adviser, who added that the plan is aimed at accommodating pilgrims from the state in one point for their comfort, emphasized the effort of the present administration towards giving the desired support for the smooth conduct of 2020 hajj operations.
