BREAKING: Anxiety mounts as Supreme Court adjourns Bauchi governorship judgment

The Supreme Court in Abuja which had initially scheduled to deliver final judgment and put to rest the legal entanglement between Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed of the People’s Democratic Party and Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of the opposition All Progressives Congress has adjourned the case to Tuesday,14th January.

Reasons for the adjournment of the case is still sketchy as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Muhammad was reported to have left the chambers over the congestion in the Supreme Court hall.

Daily Trust reports that Justice Muhammad, who is presiding over the determination of seven outstanding governorship appeals complained about the rowdy hall.

The Medium reports that Director of Litigation of the Supreme Court, Ibrahim Gold asked persons with no serious business in the court to leave.

He added that only the lead counsel and four others should be in the hall for each of the parties. “If you are not appearing as a lawyer for the appellant and respondent, please leave the hall,” he said.

Reports say security agencies were finding it hard to clear the hall.

As at the time of filing this report, WikkiTimes could not independently verify why the Supreme Court adjourns the Bauchi case.
