BREAKING: Bauchi governor suspends Education Secretaries, Directors of Primary Health care of all 20 LGAs

Bauchi state governor Bala Abdulkadir has suspended all education Secretaries, Directors of Primary Health care and their Treasurers of all the 20 local government areas of the state.

In a statement posted on his facebook page, the state commissioner for Information Ladan Salihu, said the suspension was to enable the state government conduct investigation into the payment of salaries to civil servants without Bank Verification, BVN.

WikkiTimes recalls that the State Government on the 21st of October says it will not pay this month’s salaries (October) to any civil servant or pensioner without Bank Verification Number BVN.

The statement added that  “government wishes to convey to the public that this suspension is to ensure that the on-going investigation into the matter is not compromised”.

The statement described as unfortunate the payment of 41,488 civil servants without BVN, which it says was a contravention of the Federal Government Policy.

Dr. Ladan said the state government will not accept any BVN issued within the period of the investigation.

“Finally, government wants to assure the 60,000civil servants with verified BVN not to entertain fears that their salaries will be paid as at when due”.

The statement also accused Bauchi former governor MA Abubakar of perpetuating illegalities as he “looked the other way while senior civil servants from the state’s ministries of Health, Education and Local Government committed gross financial irregularities that today pose a clear and present danger to the lean financies of Bauchi state”.
