COVID-19: Agency donates protective equipment to Borno Govt

The Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency on Monday donated assorted personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Borno Government for use in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Presenting the materials to the State High-Powered Taskforce on COVID-19 in Maiduguri, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Abba Saleh, said the items were sourced with the support of the International Organisation for Relief, Welfare and Development.

Saleh said the items worth millions of naira and comprising surgical face masks, hand gloves and surgical headwear were provided to boost the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said that scarcity of the items in the market influenced the agency’s resolve to source it for the committee as part of its contribution to the  fight against the pandemic.

“I urge citizens of the state and Nigerians in general to abide by the advice from experts and organisations like Ministry of Health, NCDC and WHO on precautionary measures against the pandemic.

“The best way against the pandemic is through prevention since there is no cure for now,” Saleh said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the government, the Secretary of the State High-Powered Committee on COVID-19, who is also the Commissioner for Health, Dr Salihu Kwaya-Bura thanked the agency for its contribution.
