COVID -19 lockdown: Yobe police embarks on sensitization visits

In order to ensure smooth and peaceful enforcement as well as compliance of the lockdown order imposed on the state by the government, the Yobe state police command has embarked on massive sensitization to encourage people comply to curtail the spread of the disease.

This was disclosed in a press release from the Command’s Public Relations officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim on Monday in Bauchi.

“As part of community policing strategy, the Commissioner of Police ordered the sensitization of all communities within the state in order to achieved maximum compliance” the release has said.

Abdulkarim said his boss, CP Sahabo Abubakar has met with the delegation of the harmonized traders association, Yobe State branch with a view to ensure compliance on the closure of weekly markets in the state as part of the restriction orders.

“Therefore, the commissioner of police urges the good people of the state to adhere to the Lockdown and the restriction orders to avoid any untoward events”.

The PPRO noted that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), department of operations represented CP Abubakar in a joint operation with the FRSC and the NSCDC to embark on a sensitization campaign in all the strategic locations in the state including motor parks.

According to ASP Abdulkarim, the CP harps on the importance of hand washing, use of sanitizers as well as sitting position of passengers in a commercial vehicles and Keke-Napep.

“This was in an effort towards enforcing the lockdown and the restriction orders in the state which commenced at 2300hrs of 31 March, 2020”. He said.
