COVID-19: Plateau plants CCTV Cameras to monitor entry, exit into State

Plateau state government has plants CCTV cameras across all entry and exit borders into the state in a bid to enforce compliance and prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

The state governor, Simon Bako Lalong said all entry and exit borders will remain closed with greater reinforcement to guard it and ensure full compliance.

In a statement made available to Journalists in Jos, the state governor said, “all entry and exit borders into the State will remain closed with greater reinforcement and CCTV surveillance to ensure total compliance.

“Anybody who violates this border closure and comes into Plateau will be arrested, prosecuted and quarantined for 14 days until it is confirmed that he/she is free of the disease”, he added.

WikkiTimes reports that the entry and exit boarders were porous during the first phase of the lockdown and people came in and out of the state against directives earlier issued.

Our correspondent reports the government is imposing stringent measures to curtail the spread of the novel virus.

Lalong had earlier today walk to talk by officially launching the surveillance CCTV cameras to monitor borders with neigbourig states.

“To address cases of sharp practices, human rights violations and compromise by some security personnel, government has set up a high-powered Independent Intelligence Monitoring Team, which will report directly to me”, Lalong said.
