COVlD-19: Kwara Assembly Tasks Schools On safety Measures As Session Begins

As Kwara government reopened primary and secondary schools in the state on Monday, the Kwara House of Assembly has charged managements of schools
to strictly adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols to guard against the dreaded virus ravaging the globe.


The House made the call on Tuesday in its resolution after adopting a matter of urgent public importance titled: “Need for Strict Adherence to COVID-19 Protocols as Schools Resume in Kwara State”.

The matter which was raised by the House Leader, Abubakar Magaji-Olawoyin, enjoyed the support of all members at plenary.


The leader in his submission advocated compulsory use of face masks, sanitisers and ensuring social distance in classrooms to protect the pupils and students against global coronavirus pandemic.

He urged parents to equip their children and wards with relevant information on COVID-19 to guarantee their safety considering the high number of casualties recorded globally.


The Speaker, Mr Yakubu Danladi, while reading the resolution of the House on the matter
implored the state government to sanction schools found guilty of overcrowding the pupils in classrooms.
The resolution also called for stiffer penalty for any school that would jettison all the safety measures on prevention of further outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. (NAN)
