Crescent Moon Not Sighted in Saudi Arabia– Eid Al Fitr is April 10th

The crescent moon was not observed in Saudi Arabia, indicating that Eid Al Fitr will now be observed on Wednesday, 10th April 2024.

Consequently, the month of Ramadan will span 30 days, concluding on April 9. This sets the celebration of Eid Al Fitr for April 10. The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia had previously requested all Muslims within the Kingdom to look for the moon of the Shawwal crescent on the evening of the 29th day of Ramadan, signaling the transition from Ramadan to Eid Al Fitr.

In related developments, the International Astronomical Center had projected that nations which commenced Ramadan on March 11 might anticipate the possibility of sighting the crescent on April 8. Nonetheless, the visibility of the crescent could be compromised as it was expected to set before the sun, with the conjunction occurring after sunset.

This astronomical scenario explains the complexities involved in determining the exact end of Ramadan and the start of Eid celebrations based on lunar sightings.
