CSOs injects N1 billion annually into Bauchi Economy

About one billion Naira is being injected into the economy of Bauchi state annually through the activities of fifty civil society organizations (CSOs) working in various sectors of human endeavor across the state.

The CSOs have also provided about one thousand five hundred permanent and adhoc jobs to people of the state in addition to the training of over eighteen thousand volunteers providing services in critical sectors.

The interim Chairman of the forum of Executive Directors of Civil society organization in the State Mallam, Sodangi Chindo stated this during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu in his palace.

Mallam Sodangi Chindo however lamented that seventy percent of the amount being injected into the state comes from international donor agencies and called for local funding of their social services.

He also frowned at low community ownership and sustainability of the projects and services they provide across the three hundred and sixty wards in the state, stressing for a change of attitude among the beneficiaries.

Sodangi Chindo expressed concern that Bauchi state has the highest number of out of school children and poorly equipped public health facilities in rural areas.

The emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman while responding attributed the high rate of out of school children to influx of people into the state and commended the civil societies for making him their grand patron.
