Democracy Day: Bauchi Gov pardons 73 inmates

Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State governor says as part of the June 12 celebration of democracy day, he has pardoned 73 inmates in the State under the exercise of prerogative of mercy.
The Governor who gave the indication at the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Special Adviser on Legal Affairs, Barrister Kefas Magaji, at the Banquet Hall, Government House Bauchi said because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the celebration of democracy day in the state would be low keyed.
” As part of our solidarity to the celebration of Democracy Day, I granted amnesty to 73 inmates, some government functionaries will also go round and assist the less privileged citizens.”
He said all his appointees would continue to work as a team in order to address developmental challenges hinging on the state’s progress.
”Our cabinet in Bauchi is a collective cabinet, we work together as a team and despite the modest achievements we recorded, we must do a lot, the state is left behind because of sharp practices of the past.”
“I feel ashamed whenever I compare Bauchi and Gombe, we are fifty years behind Gombe and this must change”, he vows.
The governor urged the two sworn in advisers, Dr. Aliyu Gital and Barrister Kefas Magaji to justify the confidence reposed on them “because we are expecting so much from you”.
He tasked them to come up with pragmatic initiatives that will help the administration achieve its objectives.
