Does Nigeria need prayers?

Two thirds of average Nigerians think that Nigeria has been backward due to lack of prayers, pitiful enough.

Those at the corridors of power know that Nigeria has been underdeveloped due to “bad leadership.”

Most of our leaders today ventured into politics to be served but not to serve, to take but not to give, to loot but not to recover, and to confuse the masses rather than enlighten them.

Almost every sector in Nigeria is not 100% functioning, for instance, the health care system of the country is a disaster the way it is right now, educational sector has been moribund, water supply is the worst, and power sector is a catastrophe!

If the government of the day had the political will through power sector alone, a lot of incubuses would be surmounted.

With stable power supply,  jobs will be created (companies would need additional manpower to meet the demands of their customers), rainstorm and high temperatures will be drastically reduced due to absence of deforestation.

If there was uninterrupted power supply, people would prefer electric stove to fire wood and charcoal and at that point deforestation would not be rampant as it is today.

Our leaders never cease to confuse the electorate by using religious, ethnic, and political factors. Whenever a calamity befalls Nigerians, leaders never hesitate to attribute it to God.

Last year, whilst there was an outbreak of meningitis in a particular state here in Nigeria, the Governor couldn’t do anything but to blame the victims for not being at the God’s beck and call.

Our leaders are very indolent to do their homework and that is why things are falling apart.

Whatever religion one practices, it doesn’t support laxity because greatness is never given, it must be earned.

It is high time we stopped thinking that things will change through prayers. Even God says work for it then pray for it.

If other countries of the world would stop making efforts towards their development and start praying for God’s intervention; they would undoubtedly be in Nigeria’s shoes.

When there was Hurricane Maria in the United States of America, did they blame their people for disobeying God? Did they call for prayers? The answer is NO! They did the needful without complaining.

Nigeria needs strong and honest leaders who will revitalize its institutions.

The four Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan) are where they are today because they have honest and strong leaders who made their institutions strong and took their people to Promised Land as well.

For my money, Nigeria doesn’t need prayers but good governance. The way Nigerian leaders falsely prioritize prayers on their every act of bad leadership, Nigerian masses assumed that all Nigeria needs is prayers.

Average Nigerians should learn how to hold their leaders accountable. Usually, enlightened citizens across the world know that they have a role to play in governance (they ask their leaders how public funds are being spent).

The moment every Nigerian deciphers that these bogus leaders use religion as a political tool, the whole thing goes back to view.

No one has the guts to condemn prayers because they are of paramount importance to human life.

In the case of Nigeria, its leaders call for prayers on anything and that’s appalling, it has got to a point where some Governors invited Astrologers to perform some magic for the sake of controlling insecurity.

It is clear that the first function of every government of the world is “Security.” In away, any government that fails to protect the lives and properties of its citizens that government remains an absolute failure.

Is sickening to know that an incumbent Governor invited Astrologers to help him in protecting his citizens.

It is up to Nigerians to wake up from their deep slumber and hold their heartless leaders to account.

For Nigeria to be able to get to the Promised Land, the notion of prayers on things that don’t matter must be abolished.

Finally, is safe to repeat the unwanted statement “Nigeria doesn’t need prayers but good governance”

God bless Nigeria!
