Edo Govt. inducts 104 newly recruited Science, technical teachers

Edo Government on Thursday commenced a two-day induction programme for the 104 newly recruited Science and technical teachers in the state.

The programme holding in Benin, the Edo capital, is jointly organised by Edo State Employment and Expenditure for Result (SEEFOR) project and Edo Board for Technical and Vocational Education (ETVE).

The state Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Christopher Adesotu, said the induction would equip the new teachers with the right skills needed to reposition education in Edo.

“We want you to drive the vision of the present administration in repositioning Science and vocational training,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary, ETVE, Mr Bernard Aigbokie, expressed confidence that the newly recruited teachers were fit to meet the demand for technical and vocational teaching in the state.

Aigbokie said that Gov. Godwin Obaseki had approved the recruitment of moreSscience and technical teachers for former St. Kizito Secondary School, Egwuaholor, now upgraded to a technical school.

A resource person, Prince Adebayo Ademola, said the programme became imperative for the inductees to understand the task ahead of them and the expectations from them.

The Edo SEEFOR Officer, Mrs Blessing Osahon, said the recruitment and induction of the teachers marked a new dawn in technical and vocational education in the state.

Osahon said SEEFOR had renovated the Science and technical schools and provided equipment to enable the newly recruited teachers to perform optimally.

Two of the teachers, Ms Onor Ovelele and Mr Uyiosa Ugiagbe, on behalf of others, promised to give their best to the students.
