Eid-el-Fitr: Gov Zulum Assures Borno Assures Quick Intervention to End Acute Water, Electricity Shortage

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state has assured citizens of the state that his administration is doing everything possible to reduce the current hardship being experienced across the state especially on the recent scarcity of water in the state capital, Maiduguri.

Zulum in a Salah message after the two Rakaát Eid Prayer at the Ramat Square, Maiduguri, noted that his people are in hardship due to water and electricity scarcity, but assured that his administration is on top of the situation.

While appealing for patience and understanding from the people, Zulum said both the state and federal government are working on how to exploit the hydroelectric sources to prove electricity to Maiduguri.

“Glory be to Almighty Allah for allowing us to witness this year’s Eid festival. I urge the people of Borno State to intensify their prayers for peace to reign in Borno and Nigeria”.

“I also want to urge the people of Borno State to be law-abiding and patient with the government. We are doing everything possible to reduce the hardship faced by our people”. 

“I am aware Borno State has been witnessing blackouts due to the vandalization of the electricity transmission towers along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway. As a result, the people of Maiduguri Metropolis and its environs have been witnessing water shortage”, said Zulum.

The Governor, however, gave assurance of his government’s effort to address the electricity blackout faced by the people of Maiduguri and its environs, saying “I want to assure the people of Borno that the government will do everything possible to restore electricity to Maiduguri”.

WikkiTimes understands that shortly after the Eid prayer, the Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Zulum and other top government officials join the Shehu Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi to witness the annual Durbar to commemorate the Eid day.
