FEDPOLY Bauchi Lecturers Launches Book On Essentials Of Nutrition

Three lecturers from the school of Science Technology of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi have launched a book essential to Nutrition,rest and recreation for total wellbeing on wednesday in Bauchi.

Our correspondent reported that the book was authored by three lectures of the school of science technology including Dr. Ester Adebitan HOD Hospitality Management Technology, Murtala Alamai HOD Leisure and Tourism and Lateef Awolabi HOD Nutrition and Dietetics.

The Rector of the Polytechnic Architec Sanusi Waziri Gumau represented Alhaji Sani Usman Deputy Rector said at the unveiling ceremony of the book commended the lectures for their determination.

He said the authors have proven that federal polytechnic Bauchi is an institution for learning.

According to Gumau we are very proud that the lecturers imbibed our culture of strong academics, great extra-curricular skills and a fine embrace of innate talent.

Earlier the Register of the Polytechnic Hajiya Rakiya Maliaka said Nutrition and physical exercise should be maintained especially amidst the COVID -19 pandemic

“Healthy lifestyle can be attained by maintaining a balanced diet and keeping into consideration to meet all the essential nutrients required by the body.

“A proper meal plan helps to attain ideal body weight and reduce the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular among others,” she said

On her part, the special guest of honour the wife of Bauchi state Governor Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed said the authors have done well for writing a book nutrition saying is at the right time .

Represented by Hajiya Saratu Modibbo the wife of Commissioner of Small scale Medium and enterprises lamented over the high rate of malnutrition in the state.

She said that was why Governor Mohammed-led administration prioritise the health sector especially the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health services.

“The state government was committed to the promotion of nutrition services, especially exclusive breastfeeding and other nutrition programmes,” she said.

She enjoined other lecturers and young ones to imbibe the spirit of reading and skills for them to be authors.

Hajiya Mohammed also explained that education is the bedrock of human and country’
s development.
