Gombe Police Nab NIS Officer For Stabbing 30-Year-Old Man To Death

The Gombe police command says it has arrested Ishaku Manaseh, a personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), for allegedly stabbing a 30-year-old man to death.

Manaseh was said to have stabbed one Mela Andrews at a drinking joint in Billiri Local Government Area of the state, according to Muazu Mahid, the Gombe State police spokesman. 

The police spokesman In a statement, said Manaseh had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court soon for prosecution.

The statement reads: “On 10th June 2022, at about 12.30am, based on a complaint received by the Divisional Police Headquarters, Billiri, that the above-mentioned suspect who is a serving member of the Nigeria Immigration Service Billiri formation, criminally stabbed one Mela Andrawus, male, aged 30yrs, of Awai quarters, Billiri LGA, on his chest over a minor argument at a drinking joint in Billiri.”

Mahid added that the police team on receiving the complaint, rushed to the scene where they succeeded in arresting Manaseh and took the victim to the police clinic in Billiri, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor. He noted that a knife was recovered from the suspect as an exhibit.

Another Arrest

Similarly, the command said its operatives also arrested a 21-year-old man Babangida Mohammed for allegedly strangling his wife Fatsuma Babangida to death in Zenge village, Kaltungo LGA of the state.

Mahid said, “On the 12th June, 2022 at about 3.30pm, a case of culpable homicide was reported at Awak Division that on the 2nd June 2022 at about 2.00pm, the above-named suspect strangled his wife, one Fatsuma Babangida, and killed her.”

He concluded that the investigation into the matter is ongoing, after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
