The Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Association of Rice Millers and Processors, Alh Yusuf lawan, has urged his members to desist from participating in the forthcoming nationwide protest.
WikkiTimes reports that youths across the country are organising a 10-day nationwide protest against economic hardship in Nigeria.
Alh Lawan, who spoke in a gathering of the association in Gombe, said members need to heed to the call of leaders and clerics condemning participation in the protest.
According to him, the protest will not in any way affect rice business activities in the state as it remains one of the most dominating commodities in the market.
He urged the members to continue on the path of peaceful coordination as that has always been their reputation as a community.
“We all know that our members are known to be peace loving and we must continue on that path. Gombe has always boasted of peace and stability despite the security situation in the country. We have to appreciate Governor Inuwa Yahya’s administration for helping to maintain stability in the state. Therefore, do not give mischief makers any chance to disrupt our peace.
“We will not participate in the protest and we will go about our daily activities even as the protest is taking place,” he said.
