Gombe taskforce Committee on COVID-19 embarks on advocacy, tours Nafada, Funakaye LGAs

The Gombe State Task Force Committee on Coronavirus has on Tuesday visited Nafada and Funakaye emirates, calling on the people of the areas to observe precautionary measures that will help in curtailing the spread of Coronavirus disease in the state.

The leader of the delegation who is also the Vice Chairman of the Committee, HRH, Mai Kaltungo, Engineer Saleh Muhammad called on the people to return to God and remain prayerful in order to see to the end of the menace in the country.

On his part, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr Ahmad Muhammad Gana said the emirs were selected for the visit because of their closeness to the people.

The Commissioner who disclosed that Gombe state has no case of coronavirus so far, maintained that “taking precautionary measures would help in tackling the novel coronavirus pandamic”.

While speaking, the Emir of Nafada ,Alhaji Muhammad Dadun Hamza commended the task force on COVID-19 and reiterated that their commitments to take proactive measures is necessary as prevention is better than cure.

The Task Force also proceeded to Funakaye emirate, where the Emir Alhaji Abubakar Muhammadu Kwairanga, urged his District heads to mobilize their ward heads to sensitize their people on how to prevent themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Scholars and other traditional rulers in the two emirates assured of their support to take the precautionary measures, such as, social distancing, washing of hands and avoidance of hand shake among others to the door step of each family in the area.
