Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has pledged to complete the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Healthcare Complex project situated at the state’s University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu.
Buni disclosed this on Tuesday when he paid an unscheduled visit to the site for on-the-spot-assessment.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work at the site, saying “this is one project that is very dear to my administration”.
“Healthcare delivery is a key priority area of this administration, we are committed to complete this very gigantic and ambitious project to improve maternal and child healthcare in the state,” he added.
The governor said the administration would meet its contractual obligations to ensure quality work and timely completion of the complex.
He noted that the centre, if completed, would contribute immensely in reducing maternal and child mortality and morbidity rate in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Buni had earlier approved N1.6 billion for the seven-storey building project.
It has 32 consultancy rooms, special baby care, labour and theatre units, peadiatric, obstetrics wards and a 150-bed capacity isolation centre.(NAN)
