Husband Who Planned to Kill Wife, Sell TV Arrested in Bauchi

A husband in Bauchi State who planned to kill his wife and sell their television set has been arrested by the police.

35-year-old Tijjani Ahmadu Diye was apprehended by the Bauchi State Police Command on December 2 in the state’s metropolis for attempting to murder his wife using a pestle.

The shocking revelation unfolded as the suspect confessed to a disturbing plan: to kill his wife, liquidate their television, and utilise the funds to furnish his shop.

The revelation came to light through a statement issued by Ahmed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer, titled ‘Husband disguises, assaults his wife’.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, detailed that during the investigation, the accused admitted to orchestrating a false alarm of a house invasion by thieves.

“On December 2, 2023, detectives arrested Tijjani Ahmadu Diye, male (35), for assault, causing grievous hurt, and attempting culpable homicide,” Wakil stated.

The preliminary inquiry exposed the suspect’s sinister motive: he raised a fabricated alarm of armed robbers, covered his face, armed himself with a pestle, and brutally attacked his wife in their bedroom.

The suspect chillingly confessed to intending to eliminate his wife, with plans to seize their television and sell it to finance his shop.

The victim was promptly taken to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, for necessary medical attention.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, has directed the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation for an in-depth probe.

Subsequently, the suspect will face legal charges as the authorities seek to unravel more details surrounding this shocking and heinous incident.
