Igbo community donates 400 bags of grains, cartons of noodles to constituency in Bauchi

No fewer than 200 bags of rice, 200 bags of Sorghum and 200 cartons of noodles have been donated to the residents of Bauchi central constituency by the Igbo community in Bauchi local government area of Bauchi state as palliative packages to cushion the effect of covid-19 pandemic.

Receiving the donation, the member representing the Constituency in the Bauchi state assembly, Hon Jamilu Umar Dahiru expressed gratitude to the Igbo community for providing succor to members of his constituency.

“We want express our appreciation to the Igbos for fulfilling the promised they made recently when I invited them on this issue of giving contribution to assist in fighting the spread of this virus where closure of borders and other necessary measures have been taken, and they promised to contribute their own quota. Conceivably, they brought a huge aid to people of my constituency”, he said.

Hon. Dahiru who said that the Igbo community are part of Bauchi people as they share same schools, roads and business environment, pledged to support them in whatever way possible.

The member while assuring the Igbo community that the packages will reach the less privilege in the constituency, urged them to maintain the gesture.

In his response, the President General of the Igbo community in the state, Engineer Dominic Nkwocha said the gesture was part of their contribution to assist the people of the constituency to over come the challenges of covid19.

WikkiTimes reports that the items were later shared to those present at the event and wards representatives for onward delivery to other beneficiaries.

Dignitaries present at the event include, Ciroman Bauchi, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba, member representing Bogoro Constituency in the state assembly, Hon. Musa Wakili Nakwada as well as presidents of igbo’s from Abia, Anambra, Anioma, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo, among others.
