INEC to recruit 22, 561 officers  for 2019 elections in Bauchi 

The Bauchi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Ibrahim Abdullahi has disclosed that the Commission has earmarked a total of 22, 561 election officials to man 5, 416 polling units in the state in the upcoming 2019 polls.
He made the disclosure yesterday during an interactive meeting between the commission and traditional rulers held at INEC headquarters Bauchi.
According to him, the commission has achieved 80 per cent completion of preparation for the conduct of 2019 general election in the state.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner noted that the commission has also concluded arrangement with National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to provide 3, 500 vehicles that will transport election materials adding that the state has 2, 488.089 million voters in the three senatorial districts of the state.
” Series of capacity building workshops are being conducted for both the Independent National Electoral Commission and support staff. The Commission has equally prepared a schedule of consultative meetings and visits with major stakeholders like the youth groups, CSOs, NGOs, PWDs etc all as a build up to ensuring a successful elections”. He said.
Also speaking, a National commissioner of INEC Baba Shettima explained that the interactive meeting was aimed at soliciting support of the traditional rulers to address violence and vote buying during the election.
He expressed the commission’s commitment to remain professional and work in line with the law through out the polls.
Shettima said there are 84 million registered voters nation wide at present urging the traditional rulers to use their influence to enlighten electorate to come out massively and exercise their franchise in 2019.
