Interest-free tricycles loan: Bauchi assembly lauds gov Bala, calls for more

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi state has been commended for providing commercial motorcycle operators who’s source of livelihood was put to halt by the recent ban on their activities in the state with interest -free tricycles loan.

Bauchi State House of Assembly gave the commendation in a press statement issued to journalists in Bauchi by the spokesperson of the Speaker, Comrade Abdul Burra.

Burra noted that Governor Bala who had earlier on Wednesday flagged-off the distribution of the tricycles said it was meant to cushion the effect of okada ban in the state.

Adding that, the governor had also explained that the tricycles will ease the transportation hardships and challenges faced by the citizens of Bauchi state.

Speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon Abubakar Suleiman and members of the assembly during the launching of the scheme, the House Committee chairman on Small and Medium Enterprises, Hon. Saleh Hodi Jibir said the lawmakers are pleased with many initiatives of the governor that are geared towards the enhancement of standard of living of the beneficiaries in the State.

Hodi however, observed that the keke napep distributed are not enough to cater the transportation needs of the people of Bauchi State considering the achaba ban in the State.

He urged the Governor to procure more of the tricycles for immediate distribution to others yearning for such opportunities across the state.

“Despite the harsh economic situation, Bauchi state should device a way to get funds for the procurement, and I assure you that the state assembly will support him by granting legislative approval for any request on the matter”, the assembly promised.

Hon. Hodi who is representing Disina Constituency of Shira local government also commended many developmental projects that have giving Bauchi state a facelift, executed by Governor Bala Mohammad within one year in office, which he said is a demonstration of purposeful leadership.

Hodi noted that, despite party differences the APC majority Legislature and the PDP-led Executive Arm are working harmoniously for the progress of the State by putting the interest of the state above any other thing.

The ceremony, our correspondent gathered was witnessed by the Speaker of the Bauchi state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman, his deputy, Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule, other members of the state assembly, members of the State Executive Council, His Royal Highness, Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, among others.
