IRI partners PDP, APC caucus on legislative communication

The International Republican Institute has hosted officials of the People’s Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress and their legislative caucuses on a one day meeting as part of efforts to enhance Party/legislative communication.

Speaking at the occasion, the institute’s Resident Program Director, Mrs Angela Wambugu said improving communication between the party and its legislative caucus will no doubt ensure the advancement of democracy.

She noted that, engaging with citizens to learn about their concerns and priorities will help elected leaders represent public interest in decision making.

The IRI official stressed the need for political parties to have a person responsible for liaising with legislative caucus beneficial to the citizen.

According to her, the institute is working with political parties and elected officials on service delivery and good governance to enable them meet the basic needs of the citizens.

Mrs Wambugu appealed to PDP in the state to fulfill some of its campaign promises of strengthen mass literacy program, improving partnership with donor agencies and ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of resources.

The State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam, pledged the readiness of the party and its legislative caucus so as to deliver as expected.

On the challenges raised during the meeting, Koshe Akuyam called for collective efforts towards addressing the challenges.

Those who attended the meeting are the State PDP Chairman, Hamza Koshe Akuyam, members of the working committee of the PDP, and Honourable Babayo Mohammed, Honourable Sabo Bako Sade, Honourable Musa Wakili Nakwada and Honourable Bakoji Aliyu Bobbo members respecting some constituencies at the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
