Kano Emir, Sanusi Receives Reappointment Letter

In a historic event, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi  has been reinstated as the Emir of Kano, marking a triumphant return to the throne he was  removed from four years ago.

The reinstatement ceremony took place at the Government House in Kano on Friday, attended by traditional rulers, kingmakers, and top dignitaries.

Governor Abba Yusuf presented Sanusi with his letter of appointment, stating, “We return Sanusi out of conviction that he was victimized in 2019. We also return him as the rightful Emir of Kano, to continue the good job he was doing for the good of Kano People.”

The governor emphasized that the legislative process leading to Sanusi’s reinstatement was guided by the collective belief in his competency, dedication, and zeal for the development of Kano State.

He urged Sanusi to reunite the family of Ibrahim Dabo and work towards uniting Islamic sects as one worshipers of Allah.

Sanusi’s reinstatement comes a day after Governor Yusuf signed the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Bill 2024 into law, effectively reversing his removal by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2020.

Commenting on the legislative process that led to Sanusi’s reinstatement, the governor insisted, “Once a Bill is signed into law, it has become law and nobody can change that.”
