The Kano State Fire Service says it salvaged 26 lives from different fire incidents in as nine others died in June alone.
The service further revealed that its officers had extinguished fire disasters that saved N17.2 million worth of properties across the state.
This was contained in a monthly review of the service activities in Kano. It was signed and made available to newsmen by Saminu Abdullahi, spokesperson for Kano Fire Service.
The review reads: “Kano State Fire Service received fire calls, rescue calls and false alarms in the month of June as follow:-
“Nine (9) live where lost as recorded in the month of June 2023.
“The number of people that, we successfully saved from a different fire disaster twenty six (26
“We received Twenty two (22) fire calls. The total number of rescue calls was eighteen (18).Numbers of false alarm Four (4).
“Estimated properties destroyed by the fire disasters recorded from 1st to 31st June 2023, worth: N 6,700,500.
“Estimated properties saved by our men from different disasters worth: N 17,200,000,” it stated.
Abdullahi, however, cautioned residents to handle fire and all inflammable with utmost care to avoid inferno.
