Kano Gov Sets Up Committee to Probe Ganduje

Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Governor of Kano State, has set up two committees to investigate Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of the state concerning mismanagement of public funds and political conflicts in the state between 2015 and 2023.

Ganduje became the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) after his eight-year tenure in office as Kano State governor.

Inaugurating the committee on Thursday, Governor Yusuf charged the members with the task of holding accountable those implicated.

He emphasized that investigating the mismanagement of public funds aligns with his commitment to uphold the law and prosecute individuals involved in political discord within the state.

Kano Gov Replies Ganduje on Invitation to APC

The governor highlighted how political conflicts leading to violence undermine democracy globally, resulting in loss of life and eroding trust among the populace and their leaders.

He stressed the imperative of addressing the significant political upheavals, particularly those witnessed in 2023, to prevent their recurrence in the future.

According to BBC Hausa, one of the committees, headed by Zuwaira Yusuf, will investigate political crises and associated losses from 2015 to 2023 with the hope that those responsible, along with their supporters, will be brought to justice, and also to uncover the root causes of the violence witnessed in 2015, 2019, and 2023.

The second committee, under the leadership of Justice Faruk Lawan, is tasked with examining cases related to the misuse of public and governmental resources.

Governor Yusuf urged Justice Lawan and the committee members to diligently uncover instances of wastefulness, particularly under the previous administration.
