Katsina Govt Commences Payment of Withheld Teachers’ Salary

The Katsina state government has begun payment of withheld salaries of newly recruited primary school teachers across the state.

This, the government said followed due diligence and careful screening of newly recruited teachers to checkmate what it described as ‘undue insertion of some selected persons’ by some power wigs.

Isah Miqdad, the governor’s aide on digital media said the state government has commenced payment of salaries of 7,325 teachers who were cleared by the special committee constituted by the government.

According to him, the delay in payment was as a result of series of alleged irregularities in the recruitment exercise which promoted the government to probe the exercise.

“After careful screening of the 7,325 newly recruited teachers by Katsina state government under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, many of them have now started receiving their salaries”.

“The teachers were recruited to teach in primary and secondary schools in the state. Before there were outcry in the social media over non-payment of their salaries. This was as a result of abnormalities observed in which some individuals tried to insert their own prepared candidates that are not qualified to teach”.

“As of now, teachers under SUBEB have received their March 2024 salaries. Arrangements are on to pay teachers under Teachers Service Board, anytime soon”, he said.
