Kwara Council Election Primaries Begin June 24

The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) has announced the schedule for political party primaries ahead of the state’s local government elections.

According to the commission, these primaries will take place from June 24 to June 30.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, the Chairman of KWSIEC, Muhammed Okanla, detailed the electoral timeline. Elections for chairmen and councillors across Kwara’s 16 local government areas are slated for September 21.

Okanla noted that a meeting with the leadership of all registered political parties will occur on June 21. Following this, political parties are expected to obtain and submit nomination forms (KWSIEC 01 and KWSIEC 02) for chairmanship and councillorship elections between July 1 and July 5.
