Landmines Planted by Terrorists Bomb Military Van in Niger State

Armed bandits on Sunday waylaid military operatives escorting civilians along Allawa-Pandogari road in Shiroro LGA, Niger State, bombing two vehicles including an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) belonging to men of the Nigerian Army.

The vehicles exploded when they stepped on landmines plotted by the terrorists. A civilian simply identified as Dantala lost his life during the attack, a community leader, Jibrin Allawa told WikkiTimes.

“Military operatives were escorting locals from Allawa to Pandogari road. They ran into terrorists along the road,” he said by phone. “They planted landmines and the vehicles exploded. The convoy was of five vehicles. So three escaped and two were bombed including APC.”

“One person, Dantala lost his life when the landmines exploded along the road,” he added.

Police spokesman in the state, Wasiu Abiodun did not respond to several calls planned through his line. At press time, a text message sent to him had not been responded to.
