For the first time since the days of Late Mal. Saidu Adamu whobagged first class in political science 40 years ago in Ahmadu Bello University
Zaria (ABU), two graduates of the university have broken the four decades jinxto emerged first class graduates in the same discipline.Abdulaziz Dahiru Dawet and Mohammed Abdullahi Lere, bothemerged with first-class degrees from the prestigious university this year witha cumulative CGPA of 4.52.
Reacting to his ground-breaking record, Abdulaziz DahiruDawat who congratulated himself and his colleague had also taken to his Twitterto dedicate his achievements to the Almighty Allah for breaking the many yearsrecord by graduating with first-class in BSc Political Science.
On his part, Mohammed Abdullahi Lere who gave the glory toGod almighty also eulogies his friend and political science comrade with whomhe was able to break the record with the same CGPA.
“The journey was tough but at the end of the day, theend has justified the means. I want to congratulate all graduating students andI pray that God will bless the certificates”, he said.
Political science and department of International Studies inAhmadu Bello University Zaria is one of the oldest academic departments foundednot long after the establishment of the University itself in 1962.
It was created along with those of sociology and economics,after approval was given for faculty of arts and social sciences in 1966/1967session.
The first student tobag first class at the department of political science was in the 80s; he was LateMal. SAIDU HASSAN ADAMU who later became one of the best lecturers in thedepartment. He died in 2017.
