Military: A Solution to Political Enigma in Nigeria

By Hayatu Mahmood Abubakar

It was a long-awaited dream of Nigerian citizens to witness the emergence of political government in the country, seeing the high prolific projects executed in some countries around the world, thinking that the case may be the same not knowing that those opportune to lead are nothing more than political raconteurs.

Because, the Nigerian political atmosphere allows not corrupt-free countrymen to lead, considering who are they, and where they come from, which is supposed not to be the basis for choosing a leader.

However, most developed countries adopt criterium for choosing a leader agreed by the World Bank and the United Nations, among which are: disvoice and accountability, rule of law, regulatory control, and control of corruption among others.

The Nigerian image is nowhere to be found before the eyes of advanced countries around the world, which is directly or indirectly connected to the high level of corruption and bad governance prevalent in the country as a result of choosing incompetent political leaders into various political offices, where at a point, one can witness a richer politician than his/her constituency.

Instead of copying the life of Mujica Jose whose lifestyle was centered around charity donations of not less than 90 percent of his monthly income, we then copy from the life of Donald and record no achievement to the stipulated period spent in an office, which is almost always accompanied by regrets.

Considering the dictative nature of the military rule, which accommodate no-nonsense in its policy execution process and allows choosing of better people, guarantees long-lasting achievements in a short period of time; restoration of peace, creation of states, the establishment of new capital, roads construction, hydro-power plants, among others.

Unlike in the current political dispensation where political vagabonds are better than our literate youth, whose feature was been stolen, crises are been created, hatreds are been established and propagated, unemployment rates never reduce and insecurity is being welcomed among youth and generated an unpeaceful Nigerian society, which will never yield a productive Nigeria at a later time.

We must learn to tackle all the socio-economic, political, cultural, and religious Nigerian crises that engulfed almost all the six geo-political Nigerian zones for more than a decade and restore the inherited peace from the military rule.
