Minimum wage: Bauchi Govt, organised labour fail to reach agreement for the second time in one week

The meeting between Bauchi state government and the organized labour on the implementation of N30,000 national minimum wage has ended up hitting the rock for the second time as the two warring factions fail to ratifying any agreement.

This was disclosed by the State Chairman, Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JPSNC), Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim in a press statement signed and made available to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday.

The statement said both the government and the organized labor have not resolved their differences on the matter.

According to the statement, the bone of contention was on the consequential adjustment of the salaries of officers on Grade Levels 7 and above.

The statement stated further that government’s offer on the consequential adjustment did not meet up the expectation of the organized labor.

Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim who commended Bauchi state workers for their patience and understanding, urged them to maintain the tempo for the overall development of the state.

WikkiTimes recalled that the organized labour had in its last meeting vowed not to compromise its stand at the ongoing negotiation with the state government.
