Misau Crisis: Committee Commences Investigation

An administrative Committee of inquiry set up by the Bauchi state government to investigate the communal clashes between between farmers and herders in Misau local government area of Bauchi has commenced work in the area.

Air Commodore Tijjani Baba Chairman of the Committee while speaking at the inaugural sitting yesterday in Misau local government area, said that the committee will investigate the extent of land enroachment in Zadawa Ward to determine the authorities or persons purported to have allocated portions of lands to illegal beneficiaries.

According to Gamawa, the committee will also visit Gwaram,Jarkasa, Dofu and Samu in Hardawa district as well as Kalala, Gaina, Gofo, Maidakeri, Baigi, Maluduba amongst others in Chiroma district.

Gamawa said the Committee will carry out it duties within the boundaries of law by being just and fair to all persons concerned.

He said the the committee is not witch-hunting anybody, but has to restore law and order in the local government.

“We promise to be fair and just to everybody.We are not here to witch-hunt anybody as some are wrongly insinuating, but to restore order, secure lives and properties in this local government”

“Should anyone has any information that will assist the committee in its assignment, it will be gladly welcome, but all complaints must be written as a memorandum to make more authentic as this will be used for documentation purposes” he said

The administrative committee of inquiry is to submit its report to the state government within three weeks.
