NDE trains 50 youths on agriculture in Jigawa

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Jigawa is currently training no fewer than 50 youths on the various agricultural farming schemes in the state.

The NDE Coordinator in the state, Malam Abubakar Muhammad, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Wednesday.

Muhammad said the training was being conducted under the directorate’s Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) of the Rural Employment Promotion (REP) Department.

He explained that the three months` training, which commenced in Nov. 2019, consisted of one month theoretical session and two months attachment in designated and well-established farms.

The coordinator added that the beneficiaries had undergone the one month theoretical training in market gardening, poultry production, small ruminant production, aquaculture, processing and marketing.

The NDE coordinator said participants had already been attached to various farms in the state to complete the training.

Muhammad expressed the hope that at the end of the training, the participants would be self-employed and employ others.
