Nigerian Army Admits Responsibility for Fatal Bombing in Kaduna Village

The Kaduna State Government has disclosed that the Nigerian Army has taken responsibility for the devastating bomb drop on Tudun Biri, in the Igabi Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the tragic death of at least 30 villagers during a Maulud celebration.

WikkiTimes had earlier reported that the incident occurred around 9 pm on Sunday when a military jet reportedly unleashed havoc on the unsuspecting residents, casting a dark shadow over the festive occasion.

Initial confusion arose as the Nigerian Air Force denied involvement, but the Overseeing Commissioner of Internal Security, Samuel Aruwan, clarified that Maj Gen VU Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, acknowledged the Army’s inadvertent role during a routine mission against terrorists.

In a high-stakes meeting at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, along with Islamic clerics, traditional rulers, and heads of security agencies, sought explanations.

Maj Gen VU Okoro detailed the circumstances, expressing remorse for the unintended civilian casualties.

Meanwhile, search-and-rescue operations are in full swing, with dozens of injured victims evacuated to the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital.

The state government, led by the deputy governor, has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, offering prayers for the souls of the departed.

Attending the closed-door meeting were key figures, including the state Commissioner of Police, MY Garba; Director of the Department of State Services, Abdul Eneche; and Prof. Shafi’u Abdullahi, Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of Jam’atu Nasril Islam, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the collaborative efforts to address its aftermath.
